If you know you'll be hosting even one holiday event, now is the time to get your schedule ready for those home improvements. Let's face it. Summer is over, your flip flops have been put away and the days of sunning on the deck have gone by. It's time to start nesting.
In design, we create "production schedules" to keep our projects on track. We start with a deadline and back track (building in room for issues) to get a schedule for our projects. Start with a list of the things you definitely need to get done around the house and a list of the things you'd like to get done around the house in time for the holidays.
If your projects involve other people, be sure to consider their time/delivery/services in your planning as well.
This year, our list included painting pretty much every room on our main floor, so we began "production" the weekend after Labor Day. Be sure to build in time to rest your aching back as well!
