100 Day Countdown!

September 16, 2017

I can't believe it, but here we are! 100 Days out. If you've been following along on Instagram this year, you've seen lots of tips and tricks as well as the beginnings of my Christmas Journal, New-Fallen Snow, coming soon! Here is my top 10 list of things you can be doing NOW to get ready for the big day!

  1. House cleaning, I mean, like deep cleaning. Time to throw those curtains in the wash and stop literally sweeping things under the rug. At the very least, come up with a weekly cleaning plan.

  2. Planning house projects. What needs to be painted, repaired or replaced to feel ready? Get it all on the calendar now.

  3. Test baking. My recommendation is to pick two to three items you love baking that are your specialty and bake a ton of them. Last year I made 1,000 pieces of shortbread! My kitchen became a factory and I had it all done in one day.

  4. Shopping. Take your time and get it right. Make your list and check it twice.

  5. Crafting. Your craft stores are starting to fill with Christmas supplies. Search Pinterest for craft ideas and wrapping paper ideas. You’ll start to see wrapping supplies in the store very soon if you haven’t already.

  6. Asking for wish lists. Chances are, they won’t remember what they wished for this far out.

  7. Talking to guests about their plans. Is anyone staying with you this holiday? Get a head start on that guest room.

  8. Buying butter. I know it seems crazy, but that stuff is expensive! If you see coupons out there, buy it now and freeze it for up to a year. You’ll likely not only need it for holiday baking, but you’ll need it for Thanksgiving, too!

  9. Restocking your wine rack. If yours looks like mine, I’ve got about 4 bottles of the “what is that grape” on my rack right now. Buying a bottle a week will ease the cost and help with gift giving, entertaining and of course, coping.

  10. Thinking about your tree. Real or fake? Same location or different? Are your pre-lit lights burnt out? Do you need a new tree stand? What the heck did you even do with your tree stand?
